Curious about anything?
How does Smile White work exactly?
After your e-consultation with one of our smile advisors, you’ll visit your local Smile White dentist for a check-up and 3D scan of your teeth. Your clear aligners will then be manufactured and sent back to the dentist within just 7–10 days. After your in-clinic aligner fitment, you’ll wear your clear aligners at home for 22 hours a day, changing them every 7–10 days to the next pair until you’re ready for your attachments to be removed by your dentist. Then you’ll be ready for teeth whitening. Wear your retainers as instructed by your dentist.

How often do I have to wear my clear aligners?
For the best results, your clear aligners need to be worn for 22 hours every day. Ideally, you should only remove them to eat, drink and brush your teeth.
Can I eat and drink as normal with my clear aligners in?
Always remove your clear aligners before eating and drinking, as they can be easily damaged or stained (even by soft drinks). You can only drink water with your clear aligners in.
After I eat, do I have to brush my teeth before putting my aligners back in?
It’s a good idea to brush your teeth before replacing your aligners, as food particles may make the inside of your aligners dirty, leading to bad odours.
Can I just wear my aligners at night?
If you only wear aligners at night, you won’t achieve the tooth movement necessary for a straighter smile. For the best results, your aligner should be worn for 22 hours per day.
How long do I have to wear my retainers after the aligners?
Wear retainers 22 hours daily for 3–6 months, then every night (8–10 hrs) for 6–12 months, then indefinitely a few nights a week.
How many trips to the dentist will I need throughout my treatment?
You’ll need around three to five visits in total (with the potential for more depending on future refinements). One for a check up, scans and X-rays. Another two for IPR (interproximal reduction) if your teeth need a little extra room to move. Then you’ll have your aligner fitment, where your composite “dots” are bonded – this is when you’ll take your kit and wear your aligners at home, until your final appointment: debonding. This should be your final appointment before you can start teeth whitening and wearing your retainers, but multiple refinement appointments may be needed.
Are the aligners invisible?
Although not completely invisible, Smile White's clear aligners are very discreet and hard-to-detect.
Do clear aligners hurt?
You may experience discomfort within 24 hours of bonding, which should ease over the first week. If discomfort continues, please contact your dentist.
Can I have clear aligners if my teeth are crowded?
Yes! In fact, clear aligners are ideal for the treatment of crowded teeth. By slowly moving the teeth, they create the normal amount of space between them.
Is whitening included with my clear aligner treatment?
Yes, you'll get a professional whitening kit worth £795 as part of your clear aligner package.
